Julianna’s Delectible Fruit’s History

Julianna’s Delectible Fruits began long before it was a created. Chef, Julianna Wesolek, started her first creations as a child baking with her grandparents in upstate, New York. Her goals grew to become a chef. Julianna worked in various upscale restaurants on Long Island and New York City. Julianna graduated from the prestigious French Culinary Institute in New York City with a degree in Pastry Arts.

Chef Julianna Wesolek created Julianna’s Delectible Fruits in October of 2002. Her goals include creating products that are all natural with no genetically engineered products, coloring agents, corn syrup or preservatives. All of her products are made from the freshest products money can buy. Most importantly, all her products are gluten free. You see, in the winter of 2003, Julianna was diagnosed with Celiac Disease. Unknowingly she had been affected by this life interrupting disease her whole life. With this revelation at the forefront of her mind, Chef Julianna decided to make it her goal to create products that were Gluten-free. Thus she created Julianna’s Delectible Fruits Reduced Sugar Jams.

What is Celiac Disease?
Celiac Disease (CD) is a genetic disorder affecting 1 in 133 Americans. In people with CD, eating certain types of protein, called gluten, sets off an autoimmune response that causes damage to the small intestine. This, in turn, causes the small intestine to lose its ability to absorb the nutrients found in food, leading to malnutrition and a variety of other complications. Symptoms of celiac disease can range from the classic features, such as diarrhea, weight loss, and malnutrition, to latent symptoms such as isolated nutrient deficiencies but no gastrointestinal symptoms. The offending protein, gluten, is found in wheat, barley, rye, triticale, spelt, kamut and to a lesser extent oats.
